Why is it important?
It brings greater awareness about the specific experiences of BDSM/kinky folks and about the need to conceptualize sexuality outside of the genitalized experience of sex.
Perspectives
My perspective is that this paper enhances the discussion around BDSM, pleasure and distress in sexual functioning, helps to put into question the central role of genital sexual experiences and points towards interesting directions in how non-monogamies and kink intersect.
