What is it about?
In this study we wanted to validated the Female Sexual Function Index by investigating if it could differentiate between women with and without sexual problems.

Why is it important?
We found that FSFI did differentiate satisfactory between the clinical and non clinical group but also that women without sexual complaints had lower scores than excepted on the desire domain. This could confirm newer theories of female sexuality that describe women´s sexual activity as sometimes being more circular where a will to engage in sexual activity an to become sexual aroused can be the initiator to sexual activity and later on activate the sexual arousal and desire. Earlier theories by Master & Johnson have described sexuality as a more linear process where fantasies, desire and arousal precede sexual activity.
