Why is it important?

This is one of the first studies to find an association between health conditions present at school entry and academic performance later on.

Perspectives

The findings in this study are important to parents and caregivers, educators and policy makers as they show which children one should be worried about. This gives an opportunity for early interventions to avoid children failing out of school.
