What is it about?
This study investigates the factors that influence survival (success) of Black-throated Sparrow nests in the Chihuahuan Desert. Survival of bird nests can be influenced by temporal factors such as time during the breeding season or nest stage (e.g.,, incubation, nestling) and by spatial factors such as habitat characteristics. Our study uses statistical modeling to determine if temporal and/or spatial factors influence survival of sparrow nests.

Why is it important?
If spatial (habitat) variables are found to be important predictors of nest survival, land managers can use this information to better manage the species and it's habitat requirements.
