What is it about?

The aim of this paper is to validate the Telugu translation of the ABC-C. Our objective was to make this tool available for examination of behavior disorders among a large population of persons with ID in India in the native Telugu language. The result of this study demonstrates the validity and reliability of this assessment instrument for a Telugu speaking population.

Why is it important?

This work offers the possibility to evaluate with the standard ABC scale Telugu speaking people, who, until now, could not be reliably tested.

Perspectives

For the last decade, great efforts have been made to include persons with disabilities in all aspects of life in India because of The Persons with Disabilities Act (Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs 1995), which establishes equal opportunities and protects the rights of this population. This work opens the possibility to compare epidemiological and clinical studies conducted on the Telugu-speaking population of India with the international literature dealing with this subject.
