What is it about?

Sandblasting is a common and safe method of surface treatment of ceramics. With respect to the lack of information on the effect of different parameters of the sandblasting machine on feldspathic porcelain, this study evaluated the effect of varying pressures of an intraoral sandblasting machine on the surface structure of feldspathic porcelain and bond strength to composite resin and compared it with the effect of hydrofluoric acid.

Why is it important?

The results of this study suggest a suitable pressure when sandblasting porcelain for intraoral repair, bonding brackets and internal surface preparation in order to bond to tooth structure.
