What is it about?

Acidic degumming process of waste vegetal oils is governed from several parameters. A systematic study on the influence of oil/water ratio, pH, temperature and stirring time has been conducted on the basis of a preliminary Design Of Experiment (DOE) analysis. The Variation of the density and of the flash point of the final product have been monitored.

Why is it important?

The number of small local industries dedicated to waste vegetal oil recycling is drastically increased in the last years. The most employed process for waste cooking oil transformation involves a degumming step, but a dettailed study about how the parameters involved in the process affect the density and the flash point of the product was missing in the bibliography.

Perspectives

These preliminary results are part of a wider research project on innovative Solutions for waste cooking oil recycling.
