Why is it important?

The two critical points in oil palm production are harvesting and sterilization. In Africa, there is no indigenous technology toward palm fruits processing that can bring technology to the rural palm oil processors. Unfortunately, 90% of palm oil produced annually were done using traditional method and small-scale methods in Nigeria, which are cumbersome and unhygienic. This study reported the technological advancement of palm fruits processing using innovated mill called synchronized medium-scale palm fruits processing mill. The evaluation of each unit of operation was investigated to established the production capacity of the mill. It bridged the technological gap between the small-scale and large -scale palm oil mills.
