What is it about?

This is a first report on the genetic manipulation of Piscirickettsia salmonis, a fish pathogen and causative agent of piscirickettsiosis. The disease is highly prevalent among salmon farms in Chile, producing every year significative economical losses.

The study of the pathogen from a molecular genetics perspective can improve our understanding of the disease and will allow us to improve control strategies.
