What is it about?

Proton pump inhibitors(PPIs) are frequently used to treat gastro-intestinal conditions but their use may be continued for longer than necessary. There is risk associated with PPIs and regular review of appropriateness is recommended. This paper looks at PPI use in Australia since 2002. We also review International studies that assess inappropriate use of PPIs and review interventions that may improve PPI use.
