What is it about?
Estimation of climatic data encountered by each species is important for macroecological studies. We show here that such estimates were similar whether based on IUCN expert range maps or from GBIF occurrence data--two of the most-used species range data sources.

Why is it important?
No one source has range data for all species. As such, this study is important because it shows that researchers could mix and match range data from multiple sources to complete their sampling for the purpose of estimating species-level climatic data.
Perspectives
What I liked about this project was how broad the topic is and how widely applicable it is to the field.
