What is it about?

Monoclinic celsian can be used as a cheap and effective material with attractive features. However, the production of pure and sufficiently dense monoclinic celsian requires severe thermal cycles. This work proposes an effective and cheaper route to produce very well sintered celsian in the desired monoclinic crystalline phase.

Why is it important?

Starting from an amorphous precursor, through the application of an external load upon sintering process we are able to produce pure monoclinic celsian pellets at temperatures as low as 1300°C in a single cycle by inhibiting hexacelsian polimorphic transformation generally occurring upon conventional cylces

Perspectives

We think that our remarkable result could be further improved by optimizing the adopted thermal cycle parameters.
