Two sediment prediction models for low volume road related sediment are used extensively for Forest Service project planning purposes. This paper compares the inputs and outputs of the two models.

Why is it important?

Accurate sediment prediction for forest management activities allows for the selection of the least impactful alternative management scenarios. Sediment in streams is responsible for smothering fish eggs, abrading fish gills, and habitat loss in mountainous streams.
