What is it about?

How are leaf attributes and relative growth rate (RGR) of the dominant tree species of tropical deciduous forest (TDF) affected by seasonal changes in soil moisture content (SMC)? What is the relationship of functional attributes with each other? Can leaf attributes singly or in combination predict the growth rate of tree species of TDF?

Why is it important?

For understanding influence of functional attributes on relative growth rate of trees in tropical dry forests

Perspectives

Trees growing in tropical dry forests experience extreme environmental conditions and for surviving in such conditions, trees have different adaptive strategies which can be observed by the study of functional attributes and growth rate. Several papers have reported the mechanism of tree adaptation in temperate forests and rain forests, however, tropical dry forests have been rarely studied.
