What is it about?
We compared three different protocols for preparative plasmapheresis. Especially platelet factor 4 was found to sensitive on the apheresis protocols. It's could be very important for the following fractionation process and should have a huge influence on the yields of the different plasma fractions and therefore on the differen plasma products like F.VIII, F.IX, Fibrinogen etc.

Why is it important?
The impact on parameters easiliy to detect on the plasma quality is described.
Perspectives
More research is required on controlling this parameters, especially the residual cells (and here the residual platelets). This parameters can influence the fractionation process in source plasma and in therapeutic plasma the therapeutic efficacy as well as the safety of the plasma for transfusion.
