What is it about?
We carried out an intervention study at our blood center in São Paulo, Brazil, to assess the impact of this educational brochure, designed to enhance donor knowledge about screening test performance, and to reduce test‐seeking behavior among donors.

Why is it important?
Test seekers represented a group of individuals at risk for HIV.
Perspectives
We detected an increase in donors' knowledge about HIV testing and window phase; however, this intervention did not result in parallel changes in blood donor deferrals. We believe that better tools are necessary to reach less‐educated people and increase blood safety.
