What is it about?

In this study speech discrimination and phonological working memory was assessed in children with ADHD, ADHD plus DCD (motor control problems) and in children with normal development.

Why is it important?

As has been reported in many other studies, children with ADHD performed significantly lower in the working memory task than controls. A noteworthy finding was that the children with ADHD plus DCD were significantly more sensitive to memory load than those with ADHD without DCD. No problems with speech discrimination was found in the paricipants with ADHD or with ADHD plus DCD.
