Why is it important?

Redesigning postpartum care with trained health professionals, with a focus on mental health and parental support, seems to be an effective way to manage postpartum depression.

Perspectives

Public health nurses are well-positioned to identify and treat mothers experiencing depression, as well as provide referrals when necessary. Investing in training nurses to recognize and address postpartum depression can be a cost-effective measure.
