What is it about?
Wound infection is a common problem in chronic wounds and is one of the key reasons why wound healing may stall. By early recognition and appropriate intervention progression of a wound infection may be avoided. This study focussed on the inter-rater reliability of two different methods of documentation for the assessment of infection in chronic wounds in clinical practice on using the WUWHS criteria.

Why is it important?
This study was designed to determine the inter-rater reliability of two different methods of documentation in clinical practice. Based on the results obtained, it is to conclude that a checklist with the WUWHS criteria supports the clinical assessment of infection of chronic wounds.
Perspectives
By doing this study and by publishing this study I hope that it contributes to the use of the WUWHS infection criteria in clinical practice.
