What is it about?

This article is about starting an appreciative discussion of how nurses practice caring presence. Stories told by nurses and about nurses are shared, and related to a definition of caring presence, to indicate in what way these stories resemble caring presence.

Why is it important?

Appreciation ignites hope and positive action. Leaders should cultivate a culture of appreciation to encourage nurses to practice caring presence.

Perspectives

This article is an important opportunity to share a positive perspective about nurses, and to appreciate their dedication and hard work. It is my hope that such a publication will not only be an acknowledgement of nurses, but also an inspiration to nurses to continue providing high quality nursing care.
