What is it about?
Radiation-induced cystitis is an important complication of pelvic radiotherapy. Although most conservative therapeutic modalities have limited results, hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been proving to be very effective.

Why is it important?
With a total of 176 patients with radiation-induced hemorrhagic cystitis treated with hyperbaric oxygen, our study almost doubles the number of cases described in the literature. Our results show radiation-induced cystitis is successfully treated with hyperbaric oxygen and helps define the adequate number of sessions and the factors related to favorable treatment responses.
