What is it about?
Measurement and prediction through a mathematical model of the residual stress resulting from ion exchange, prediction has the purpose to highlight different stress build-up and relaxation mechanisms typical of a non equilibrium interdiffusion process (Ion Exchange) on a non equilibrium state of matter (glass).

Why is it important?
Our findings shows that predictions can be highly accurate in a wide range of process time and temperatures and for different types of glass chemical compositions.
Perspectives
Results may encourage investigations in different experimental and theoretical approaches with the purpose to explore in deep the characteristics of ion exchanges glass below the glass transition temperature.
