What is it about?
Use of corrosion properties of ancient glasses to predict release of radioactive technetium from nuclear disposal vaults
Featured Image
Why is it important?
Keeping radioactive elements from entering the biosphere is of high importance to future generations
Perspectives
I have dealt with this issue since in 1982 I joint Atomic Energy of Canada Limited's (AECL) Whiteshell Nuclear Research Laboratory (WNRL) in Pinawa, Manitoba. Recently published results by Frech researchers on wheathering of ancient church glasses triggered my revisiting these issues.
