What is it about?
I examine some reasons why the discipline of philosophy remains the domain of white men and offer suggestions for making the discipline more inclusive.

Why is it important?
The discipline has undergone very public challenges in recent years with regard to the climate for underrepresented philosophers. This paper is a direct response to the hand-wringing that often occurs after each public controversy.
Perspectives
This paper came out of a talk I was initially invited to give at UNC, my alma mater. I was glad to see the department being proactive about attracting women into the field.
