Why is it important?

Very little is known about how or if patients in developing countries actively seek information about medicines. We found that they were unaware that they could ask questions, and certainly never actively sought further information. This reflects their disempowerment within the health system and is in complete contrast to the current shift in focus to patient-centered care.
