What is it about?

We focus on how gender bias, organizational practices and social norms impact women technology entrepreneurs' abilities to gain access and acceptance at technology accelerators. We find that these multiple factors work at the same time, creating a perfect storm, to make access and acceptance difficult for women.

Why is it important?

This research is important as it shows that there is not one reason women technology entrepreneurs get left out of valuable networking opportunities but multiple ones taking place at the same time. Changing organizational practices in accelerators is one of the most effective way to allow women technology entrepreneurs access to valuable networking and funding opportunities.

Perspectives

This work allows us to understand the kinds of organizational practices that can help or hinder women technology entrepreneurs' successes.
