What is it about?
Methanogens use carbon sources other than hexoses due to their inability to transport carbohydrates. Therefore, gluconeogenesis is an essential pathway to synthesize macromolecules for biosynthetic purposes. We used biochemical approaches to determine metabolic and transcriptomic regulation of the gluconeogenesis, glycolysis as well the synthesis and degradation of glycogen in M. acetivorans.
