What is it about?

How would you maintain good quality connectivity (both voice and data) when the LTE mobile phone is moving rapidly within the city area? Mobility management is the key component in any cellular technology where it manages the handover from one radio tower to another. At present there is a flaw in the LTE's mobility management protocol, very rigid and non-adaptive. The proposed method in the paper incorporates the machine learning element into the mobility management design.

Why is it important?

The work is important as it provides the theoretical framework to allow more intelligent mobility management proposal for the successor of LTE, the 5G.

Perspectives

I certainly hope this article will provide good theoretical foundation for a smarter device, just in time for 5G technology, which has a lot higher requirements as compared to the LTE.
