What is it about?
We did develop a technique to get higher concentrations of antibiotic into the joint when using the regional limb perfusion in horses. This project was in normal horses.

Why is it important?
Our findings show that performing exsanguination to the distal limb prior to application of the tourniquet above the carpus, increase levels of amikacin in the synovial fluid of the fetlock joint.
Perspectives
It is an easy and practical technique to add in your practice for your routine regional limb perfusion.
