Why is it important?
This study investigates the major claw waving rates (waves/min) of large and small male fiddler crabs (Austruca perplexa) towards large and small females. The results show that large males waved more towards large females than towards small females which indicates their preference for large females. Whereas, the waving rates of small males towards large or small females were not different, indicating that they did not show any apparent preference for either large or small females. These results indicate that large males in a population are choosier than small males.
