What is it about?
It is a review of the literature that is leading us to look at a particular pathway from deep in brain (the thalamus) to the very surface of the cortex. We think there are reasons for thinking that this area is part of cost/benefit decision making.

Why is it important?
If we are right and our experiments do what we think they will we have found another important part of brain involved in deciding how much pain a reward is worth
Perspectives
This review was written while I had to be away from experiments for a couple of years. I'm glad to be back!
