What is it about?
Designers can have an important role in improving product success and sustainability. This article studies the challenges of managing design in networked product development project – a development context not thoroughly addressed in previous research in design management.

Designers need to be managed well to reap the benefits of using design in the first place. As a business network structure influences the organisation of product development, and how different professions participate in it, understanding the role of designes in business networks is necessary addition to design management research.
