We are exploring the relationship between early feeding-swallowing difficulties and language impairment in preschool children.

Why is it important?

It is the first study that explores the relationship of early feeding-swallowing difficulties and later language difficulties in children. Our long term goals will be to determine whether or not the early presence of FSDs may provide prognostic indicators of later occurring language impairments. If so, at-risk children could be identified and channeled into early intervention programs.
