What is it about?

In clinical works, some peripheral pulmonary carcinomas are difficult to be diagnosed because we can not obtain the lesions by biopsy related technologies. The tumor markers in the serum is often unsatisfied. To investigate the value of some valuable tumor markers in Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) may provide clinicians with new ways and ideas in diagnosis of lung cancer.

Why is it important?

Bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) is a better specimen than serum in diagnosis of lung cancer, because BALF is near to the lesions. The peripheral pulmonary carcinomas are hardly obtained tissue samples by biopsy related technologies. The value of tumor markers in BALF is promising to add new ways in diagnosis of lung cancer, particularly the peripheral pulmonary carcinomas.

Perspectives

Detection of tumor markers in BALF was superior to serum specimens. The measurement of USP8, HSP90a and YKL40 in BALF had more clinical value for the diagnosis of peripheral pulmonary carcinoma.
