What is it about?

The presence of lymph node skip metastasis (LNSM) is associated with a favourable prognosis in some solid tumours, but whether it has a favourable prognostic impact in colorectal cancer (CRC) is still unclear. The present study suggests that the presence of LNSM indicates a better prognosis in some patients with CRC.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that The prognosis for the LND1-negative lymph node skip metastasis group was better than for the LND2+3 group and was comparable with that of the LND1 group after radical D3 lymphadenectomy. Thus, the presence of LNSM indicates a better prognosis in some patients with CRC.
