What is it about?

This article discusses how the use of the Common Assessment Framework form has changed professional practice nine years on from its implementation. In a time of austerity and funding cuts it was evident, from the data collected, that more experienced professionals were able to add creativity to the terminology they used as well as, the use of work colleagues to complete the form. This was in order to access early intervention services for young people and their family.

Why is it important?

This will assist professionals to understand the use of the CAF. As well as, difficulties in working with early intervention processes faced by fellow professionals in a diverse range of agencies. Additionally professionals can gain a understanding of the different working practices utilised by professionals in order to circumnavigate some of the difficulties and barriers that were commonly faced.
