Why is it important?

Nanomedicine, despite intensive effort put into its development, has not yet made a great impact on cancer treatment. For nanomedicine to reach its full potential, much more needs to be understood about the tumor microenvironment, and how it attenuates the efficacy of nanomedicine. Though this review is about pancreatic cancer, we believe it is applicable to numerous other cancer types--especially those characterized by a fibrotic component within the tumor.
