What is it about?

Why is it important?

We all need to adapt to the "new normal" and understand the trends of what to expect in the future. A longer growing season provides opportunities for growers, but that advantage has the downside of increased extreme weather events, such as heat waves and many other weather phenomena.

Perspectives

Analyzing long-term weather records in this way has led to a number of surprises (which keeps science exciting!). There were many unexpected results, such as an increase in cold spells, or that the last day of frost does not come earlier, despite the very strong increase in winter temperatures.
