Human podocytes express functional thermosensitive TRPV channels

What is it about?

Thermosensitive TRPV ion channels are important regulators of barrier functions in epithelial tissues, but they presence in podocytes, specialized kidney cells forming a filtration barrier at the first step of urine formation, is unknown. We provide the first evidence for the functional expression of these channels in human podocytes.
