What is it about?
Medications currently available for the treatment of neuropathic pain are only partially effective and have serious side effects including addiction and overdose death. New medications that work through alternative mechanisms are desperately needed. This review discusses the potential involvement of α9 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in neuropathic pain as well as potential therapeutics for the treatment of neuropathic pain syndromes.
