What is it about?
The psychology underpinning barefoot and minimalist running.

Why is it important?
Although research into barefoot and minimalist running has increased significantly in recent years we know little about what runners think of these two forms of running. This paper represents the first paper beginning to look at the psychology underpinning barefoot and minimalist running and represents the first few steps in this area.
Perspectives
Shoe "support" appeared to reassure against individuals running concerns such as vulnerable body parts. The term "support" had no clear definition. Individuals seemed to value practical over academic knowledge. Although participants deemed barefoot running to be "natural" it was also considered extreme. Minimalist running didn't produce such aversive reactions.
