What is it about?
The manifestation of and comorbidities associated with Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus were assessed in the current study to determine factors predictive of quality of life impairment. The variables associated with impaired quality of life were determined to be: (i) female sex; ii) the cutaneous activity ; and (iii) high nicotine dependence.

Why is it important?
We confirm that the women and the highest cutaneous activity were associated with impaired quality of life like others authors, but this is the first study to make an association between high nicotine dependence and poor quality of life in Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus.
Perspectives
We hope this article implies that smoking cessation strategies could improve quality of life in patients with cutaneous lupus erythematosus who are smokers with high nicotine dependence.
