What is it about?
Epigenetic errors frequently observed in cloned animals are not transmitted to the next generation. Here we report that these errors are erased during gametogenesis.

Why is it important?
This is the first molecular evidence that no epigenetic errors are found in cloned cattle gametes (oocytes / sperm). These findings contribute to the soundness of cloned cattle offspring.
Perspectives
As this work is not genome-wide approach, it is needed to analyze DNA methylome of cloned cattle germ cells to confer the soundness of cloned cattle offspring.
