What is it about?
This paper is about the ethical implications of killing dogs. The media reporting of the protest events on killing dogs and a public opinion survey about the welfare of dogs in Romania is analysed. Thus a public response to governmental measures to rapidly implement a street dog law is revealed. Different discourses are considered, from which a framework for improving the ethics of culling dogs could be built.

Why is it important?
The issue of killing animals is important because no one has the right to kill animals - it is a matter of ethics. People must be more responsible on the issue of harming and killing dogs.
Perspectives
Through this paper I want to highlight that the issue of dog culling is not just a problem for politicians, managers and researchers to worry about - it is an ethical issue that must touch every single human being on the Earth.
