What is it about?

Azadirachtin is an active compound found in the neem plant, and has also been successfully used in agriculture and aquaculture systems to control pesticides and fish predators. However, it has been found toxic to non-target organisms. This paper shows that NeemAzal bio-pesticide can induce changes in the blood biochemical activity of C. idella when exposed to the pesticide for a long time.

Why is it important?

Our paper indicates that despite of being eco-friendly, bio-pesticides should be handled with care when agricultural areas are near water ecosystems since its excess influx into the aquatic environment can effect the aquatic animals life.

Perspectives

We all know that saving our environment from pollution is our responsibility, because our health depends on it. Pesticides (synthetic and herbal) have contaminated almost every part of our environment and poses significant risks to the non-target organisms. Therefore, for our health beneficial, care should be taken when using these pesticides.
