Why is it important?
Fish treated with steroid sex hormones may be unsafe to consumers who regularly feed on it, so this method aims to safely induce sterility in males by using gene transfer.
Perspectives
In my opinion, this investigation is the first to recommend the use of foreign DNA transformation to induce sterility in Nile Tilapia males and thus solve the problem of overpopulation in commercial pond cultures.
