Why is it important?

Identifying biomarkers of protection in TB is key for vaccine development and evaluation. Unfortunately, there are no biomarkers of protection identified and this paper examined the potential of LAM-induced cytokines as biomarkers of protection. The paper showed that LAM-induced IFN-gamma and TNF-alpha could be considered as potential markers of protection.
