What is it about?

At birth the negative feedback between gastrin and acid is not yet mature. It takes 3 weeks to mature. Hence gastrin secretion and acid secretion is unrestrained by the other. Negative feedback matures around 3 weeks of age. At that time the peak acid cretion then begins to fall as it comes under the negative feedback control by gastrin which falls. The peak acidity is only important in the already constitutionally hyperacid baby. In those babies a crical acidity level is reached which causes repeated sphincter spasm and work hypertrophy of the sphincter leading to pyloric stenosis.

Why is it important?

The cause of this condition is not officially known. The peak of hyperacidity which causes this condition can be safely reduced now by temporarily employing powerful acid blocking drugs while awaiting acid secretion to fall with age while the lumen naturally enlarges with age.

Perspectives

Convincing the pediatric establishment who have no reasonable alternative explanation and no explanation for the clinical features,is an uphill task. Primary hyperacidity with a developmental temporary boost, explains all the clinical features.
