Urban Redevelopment, Displacement, and Governmentality in Nanjing’s Historic Inner‐City

What is it about?

This paper contributes to analyse why there has been less reported resistance related to China's urban redevelopment process since the early-2010s. We aim to outline the new rationalities and technologies employed by the Chinese party-state to deescalate the tensions between the local governments and displacees. Also, we would like to alert the critical scholars and the general public about the hidden issues pertinent to these reconfigurations of urban redevelopment governance.
