Whilst normally they do not cause problems, gastric lipomas are rare causes of bleeding from the stomach.

Why is it important?

This is the first reported case of a symptomatic gastric lipoma in Australia. Whilst rare, they are important to consider, due to the differing treatment needed when compared to more common causes of GI bleeding.
